Preachers' Training Day: Preaching at All-Age Services

One of the most demanding experiences of preaching in a local church is preaching at an all-age service. Faithfully handling the Scriptures, engaging the attention of all ages and urging everyone to respond to the Word of God is far from an easy task. Add on top of that the fact that few of us have had much training in this part of ministry. All of this can leave us feeling ill-equipped.

Our next Suffolk Gospel Partnership event will help us think through how to teach in this context, give us good tools to make use of and then provide a good example of how to preach well in this context.

The teaching on the day will be run by Andy Gawn. Andy led children’s ministry while on staff at Jesmond Parish Church in Newcastle for over 20 years. He also led the children’s work at Word Alive for a number of years. He comes with a wealth of experience in children’s ministry and especially preaching to a congregation of all ages.

This event is aimed particularly at those who speak to a mixed congregation at an all-age service or for a children’s talk. However, it will also be beneficial for those involved in other varieties of children’s ministry and they are welcome to join us too.

Bookings open at the start of March.
